Nara Prefecture itself will become a experience-based history museum!
A variety of seasonal events will be held throughout Nara Prefecture in 2010 to commemorate the 1300th anniversary of Nara Heijo-kyo Capital, including special displays of national treasures and other cultural properties, walking events that explore famous places in Nara, and traditional events held year-round in various cities, towns, and villages throughout the area.
The entire prefecture will become an enormous historical gallery communicating the multifaceted appeal of the ancient capital of Nara.
- Special exhibitions of hidden treasures and rarely-seen Buddhist statues as well as special lectures at some 50 shrines and temples
- Regional events with themes such as history, nature, arts and crafts, and food
- Walking events that take participants around Nara and sports events
- Special exhibits with the theme of cultural exchange featuring cultural properties, writings, paintings, etc.
